new chapter.

I've been putting off this post for quite some time.

I'm moving from my fifth grade classroom to the principal's office this summer.
So due to the changing circumstances in my "day job,"
and the need for more space to spend with family and friends,
I am no longer scheduling photography sessions.

John and I are so grateful for the many opportunities we've had in the last six years
to document your special moments.
Many of you who began as clients have become friends.
Thank you.

We still have a few projects to finish up, so if you have booked a session for later this summer or fall,
we will, of course, honor those.

My camera will never be far out of reach.
My love for photography began with a desire to see what is beautiful and lovely in all things.
I pray I never lose sight of that.

The brave who focus on all things good and all things beautiful and all things true, even in the small,
who give thanks for it and discover joy even in the here and now,
they are the change agents who bring fullest Light to all the world.

let it snow.

I love taking pictures of Kylie and her little siblings.
I'm saving the rest of the images for their Christmas card,
but had to share this one.
Let it snow.  Let snow.  Let it snow.

matthew {class of 2015}

We were so glad to squeeze Matthew's senior session in before the holidays.
He was laid back and easy to work with.
And didn't seem to mind the cold too much!
Thanks for a great time, Matthew.
Enjoy the rest of your senior year!

thompson fam.

If my memory serves me correctly,
my first official family session as a photographer was for the Thompsons in 2009.
I thought they were brave to hire me.
As it turned out, had a marvelous time and captured some sweet images like this one...
So while the perfectionist in me looks back at images from those early sessions as a photographer
and notices so many marks of my own inexperience,
I also see families marked by love.

All to say, yesterday's session was a treat for me.
While I have a couple projects to finish up this fall,
this was the last full session for 2014.
And it was a great way to close out the year.

The Thompsons are a spectacular family...
you could see it in their 2009 pictures,
and you'll see it in these.

engle girls.

Caroline and Anneka came to their fall session ready to smile.
It's a good thing because it was c-c-c-c-cold.
We got their pictures done in record time with little coaxing.
They are as sweet as ever!

We did ask Anneka to sit on the stairs like her sister,
but she was more interested in climbing them!

jake {class of 2015}

A few years ago we took pictures of Jake and his family while vacationing on  Lake Michigan.
We were back in Michigan recently and were honored to take his senior pictures.

He is clearly handsome.
Also smart.
Also athletic.
Also musical.
And super nice.

Have a great year, Jake!
We wish you much success now and in your future.
