piper.

 Piper's mommy and I have been e-mailing back and forth and I finally got to meet them.
Piper has gorgeous eyes (see above), and tons of hair.
She also has quite a wardrobe of hairbows.
She can sit up all by herself and find her reflection in the mirror and the floor.
 Piper's big brother Jackson helped me "practice" before I took her pictures!
 Love this!

 Welcome to Piper's beautiful room...

Thanks for letting me come over to play, Piper!

project 52/4.

{soothing repetition}

His love endures forever.
Psalm 136

This week's theme {soothing repetition} puzzled me for a moment.  Once I began to think about it, the possibilities played out in my mind...backrubs, running water, morning coffee, chocolate, music, rain, candles...patterns everywhere reminded me of the steady beats in my life that soothe.  But with every new idea composed in my mind, I kept returning to the soothing repetition of the words in Psalm 136.  His love endures forever.  I don't know that this is the greatest picture I've ever taken, but it is the greatest truth....and worth repeating.

project 52/3.

{shades of gray}

Classroom Window Snowflakes

My fifth grade classroom has great windows.  At times, they seem to draw more of my students' attention than I do, especially when snowfall is predicted.  I have to admit, given the choice between multiplying fractions and watching snow fall to the ground, I'd choose the window view!

Last week's beautiful white blanket has been replaced by this week's freezing mist...a perfect opportunity to take some pictures for this week's project 52 theme, "Shades of Gray." The view through our window snowflakes was definitely shades of gray (no black and white conversion needed at all).  Inside the classroom?  Vibrant with colorful personalities, I can assure you!

Thanks to a wonderful group of girls who helped me decide which picture to use for this week's theme.

hats.

I love her red hat.
She was wearing a hat the first time I saw her.

It was Halloween, and I was visiting my daughter's Kindergarten classroom.
Megan was wearing a witch's costume which included a pointy hat as big as she was.
She even cackled like a witch.
Out of all the other kids,
the little witch caught my attention that day.
Well, except for the brown eyed kid impersonating a piece of bubble gum stuck to a shoe...
but she already had my attention and my heart.
There was something about that little girl in the pointy hat.
She was her own woman.
I admired her even then.
I love her now.

God has captured her heart and grown her into an amazing young woman.
He's not the only one who's captured her heart!
His name is Bryan, and they're getting married this summer.

These are just a few initial engagement shots.
Stay tuned for more pictures this spring...
I may have another story or two about the kid in the pointy hat.

{things around the house}

my first canon (shot with my second canon)

Here's the goal.  In the year 2011, I'm going to take one picture a week for fun...to grow...to create...to learn...to stay out of a rut.  Fifty-two weeks, fifty-two  images.  I'm being inspired by the weekly {theme} provided by mcp actions http://www.mcpactions.com/.  This week's theme (see above):  {things around the house}.  I'll post each image by Saturday.  We'll see what the year brings.
